After
years of experiments and observations I found that my
halfmoon spawn produces more and more halfmoon and up
until now I can say that almost all of my spawn became
halfmoon and super delta, only a few number are delta.

2 1/2 months old
Turquoise Halfmoon. |
|
I
devide my fish into two groups, first is the fishes
that show a sign of being halfmoon when they were less
than 2 months old and second the fishes that show a
sign of being halfmoon when they are older than 2 months
old.

|
The halfmoon from the first
group will not spread to 180 degree when it is old and the caudal is very long.
This halfmoon is considered as not good for me. The second group are fishes that show 180 degree spread when
they are older than 2 months old and if you know how to raise them, they will be halfmoon until they die. Their
caudal will not growing very long and the good halfmoon will have their caudal length of about 3/4 of the body length.
|
I prefer the caudal length of about 3/5 of the body length to 3/4 because I think that this shorter caudal will
last until they die and it look more symetrical than those with longer caudal. |
 |
I have now those with shorter caudal and are in 3 solid colors. They are turquoise, blue and steel blue. I
am working on red, yellow and orange and hope to get through within this year.
